STUDENT NURSES ASSOCIATION OF INDIA (SNAI)
The student Nurses Association of India (SNAI) is a countrywide organization. It was established in 1929 at the time of Annual Conference of the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI). SNAI is an affiliated association of the Student Nurses under the umbrella of TNAI. SNAI was established at Arun College of Nursing in 2017 adhering to the statutes of TNAI.
PURPOSE
The foremost drive of the launch of SNAI is to support the pride and to promote a team spirit among students with professional ethics.
OBJECTIVES

UNIT ORGANIZATION
All the office bearers shall be elected by the student members of the SNAI Unit of ACON as mentioned below.
SNA President
Shall be a life member of the TNAI whose function will be completely organizing the team completely.
SNA Advisor
Shall be a life member of the TNAI whose function will be entirely advisory in nature.
Vice president
Shall be a student and preside over all the unit meetings.
Secretary
Shall be a student member of SNAI unit.
Treasurer
Convenor and member of sub committees may be elected to arrange various activities as the unit consideration.

Criteria for SNAI Bearers
- All SNAI bearers of ACON shall be members of SNA.
- SNAI advisor shall be a life member of TNAI.
- Vice President shall be a student member of SNAI Unit of ACON.
- All SNAI unit meetings shall be presided over by the Vice President.
- Secretary shall be a student member of SNAI Unit of ACON.
- Treasurer shall be a student member of SNAI Unit of ACON.
- All office bearers shall be elected by the student members of SNAI Unit.
SNA Functions & Responsibilities
>Vice President
- Preside over SNAI unit meetings.
- Supervise the functioning of all committees.
- Organize SNA programmes.
- Act as a representative of all students.
- Act impartially without bias.
- Take decisions after discussion with committee members in the presence of the advisor.
- Convey student information to the President and Advisor.
- Represent the general body meeting and attend SNAI meetings and conferences as an observer.
Secretary
- Act as Vice President in the absence of the Vice President.
- Understand and address students’ problems.
- Manage and supervise committee activities.
- Encourage students to participate in various activities.
- Conduct and organize programmes.
- Maintain records and minutes of meetings.
- Submit reports to the SNAI advisor, who will inform the President about unit activities.
Treasurer
- Provide funds for activities conducted under the SNA banner.
- Conduct fund-raising programmes.
- Collect welfare funds approved by the general body and deposit them in the authorized bank.
- Collect fines as required and deposit them promptly.
- Maintain records and receipts of all expenses.
- Prepare and record annual audited statements.
- Report audited statements to students.
- Avoid unnecessary expenditure.
- Maintain income and expenditure registers.
- Submit unit reports during general body meetings.
Institutional Committees
ACON has constituted various welfare committees with student representation,
monitored and maintained by respective faculty members.
Aim of SNAI Committee
- To discuss students’ needs and problems related to clinical, college, hostel, and other areas.
Curriculum Committee
- Obtain suggestions and feedback from students on curricular activities.
- Identify problems and difficulties faced by students.
Anti-Ragging Committee
- Ensure compliance with Supreme Court directives on ragging prevention.
- Educate students about anti-ragging rules and consequences.
- Investigate complaints and recommend appropriate action.
- Oversee submission of anti-ragging undertakings.
- Conduct awareness workshops.
- Provide contact details for complaints and counselling.
- Prevent ragging within campus and hostels.
Disciplinary Committee
- Take disciplinary action against students when required.
- Recommend new disciplinary rules.
- Periodically review disciplinary measures.
- Maintain a positive atmosphere among students and staff.
Editorial Board
- Display newspapers, news updates, and quotes on notice boards.
- Motivate students to prepare magazines.
- Edit and publish articles and literary content.
Cultural Committee
- Encourage participation in cultural events.
- Organize cultural programmes.
- Arrange costumes and maintain event records.
Sports Committee
- Encourage student participation in sports.
- Maintain sports equipment and emergency kits.
- Conduct competitions and maintain records.
Health Committee
- Maintain students’ health records.
- Take care of sick students and inform authorities and parents.
Food & Hostel Committee
- Ensure hygiene in the mess.
- Enforce hostel rules and regulations.
- Monitor regular meal consumption.
- Report mess-related issues to the hostel coordinator.
SNAI Bylaws at Institution Level
As prescribed by TNAI (Act No. XXI of 1860, June 16, 1917), the following
bylaws are approved by the Academic Council, Executive Committee, and
General Body.
- SNAI–TNAI membership (one-time payment) of Rs. 2000 per student, including subscription fee.
- No proxies are permitted for attending general meetings.
- Membership is open to all nursing students of ACON.
- Individual student enrollment is not permitted.
- Applications to form a unit must be routed through the Head of the Institution.
- Students who fail to complete the course will be removed from SNA membership.
- The Unit Secretary shall maintain and update membership records annually.
